Paul Davis Restoration
Restoring America—a home improvement initiative designed to help those
who cannot afford or are physically unable to fix up their homes – provides
time, labor, and materials to a local beneficiary. Recipients are identified
through local organizations and receive much-needed home repairs and restoration.
Jubilee Farmhouse,
a transitional home run by Transitional Living Center (TLC) a program of
Tabor Community Service was chosen as our 2004 recipient. Jubilee Farmhouse
is used as transitional housing for women with children that have completed
rehabilitation who would otherwise be homeless. Jubilee Farmhouse provides
families the opportunity to regain independence and find permanent, affordable
housing.
Paul Davis
received commitments of labor and materials from our valued subcontractors
and trades people. Generous contributions included carpet and flooring
from Richard’s Floor Covering, paint from G.R. Mitchell and general building/repair
supplies from Home Depot. Other donations were received from Starbuck’s
Coffee, Subway, Giant Food Stores, Achenbach’s Pastries Leola location,
and Keystone Pretzels.
Repairs included
installing new kitchen and bathroom flooring, patching and painting drywall,
updating safety features, resetting vinyl siding, and general cleaning
and trash removal. With the strong collaborative effort of our ‘Restoring
America’ partners, those who donated materials and over 20 volunteers,
the safety and livability of the home were significantly improved.
